Hopemont, now known as the Hunt-Morgan House, was built in 1814 by John Westley Hunt, the first millionaire west of the Alleghenies. The BGT purchased the house in 1955 and carefully restored it to its original, Federal period antiques, portraits, and family pieces, the Hunt, Morgan house represents a thriving period in Lexington’s history when it was known as the “Athens of the West.”

A decorative arts museum with exhibits of local and regional artists displayed in a Kentucky Federal style house. The Bodley-Bullock House is open to the public throughout the year for tours and special events such as Gallery Hops and ghost tours.

Art on Lime is an indoor/outdoor exhibit of Kentucky Artists. A collaboration between Silvestri-Craig Realtors and LexArts has allowed for an alternative art display along the Limestone cooridor. Patrons view contemporary artist installations through the windows and on lawns of historic victorian homes.

Julep Cup pays homage to Lexington culture and cuisine. The Seahorse Lounge, to the right upon entering, has a nautical these above, with the frieze above the bar made of a collage of sea shells. The ceiling has seahorses and bubbles suspended and floating throughout the room. Stunning architectural original watercolors are presented on the exposition wall you face upon entering. The artist is often present, enjoying lunch, dinner, or the music, and sharing his travel, architectural and watercolor experiences.

LexTran and LexArts present Translucent, a public art project of backlit artwork, at the Downtown Transit Center. Exhibits change twice a year, providing interest and color to downtown. Come see Translucent at hop and ride on the Colt Trolley. Explore our special route for hop which you can find on the map. The Trolley stops at any LexTran bus stop along that path.
