Nori Hall: Waterscapes
April 19 - June 9, 2013
The Ann Tower Gallery is pleased to present fifteen new large-scaled photographs in "Nori Hall: Waterscapes." Hall creates sumptuous and mysterious images by shooting film that she prints and manipulates digitally, suppressing detail and using blended, understated and somewhat unrealistic color. The addition of stylized color is a change from her previously sepia-dominated palette. The results are wonderfully dreamy and moody interpretations of beautiful watershed settings in the Bluegrass. |

Natural Selections 2000-2012: The Botanical Art of Bruce Robert Frank
Spring has sprung! To celebrate, we're bringing in the artistic explorations, inspired (in his own words) "by the brilliant colors and sensual forms of nature," of Bruce Robert Frank!
For the past three years, he has hand-manipulated photographs, using digital processes, mandalas - geometric imagery, which are usually circular and primarily symmetrical - to achieve radial balance in his artwork. Discovering that botanical images are particularly suited to this form of creative expression, he has excelled and continued developing this motif.

The Photography of Bobby Shiflet
Photography was my first love. I remember looking at photographs for hours at a time when I was very young. A camera was one of my first "grown up" purchases. Sending off a roll of film and anxiously waiting for the photographs to come back was always a test of my patience. I ve always seemed to look at the world through the lens of a camera.
One of the things that I love most about photography is the ability to capture a moment in time that allows myself or others to relive that moment.
Owning and operating Frames On Main Gallery allows me to not only frame and enjoy my own work but to see and enjoy the photographs and artwork of the very talented artists who live in this region. It is A GOOD LIFE!! |

Also represented are sculptures of older heirlooms by contemporary artists- artists who are trained in ancestral traditions which then gives us a window into the aesthetics and the religious beliefs of several cultures.

Realms of Wonder
collages by Kathleen O'Brien
Kathleen O'Brien's collages of abstract watercolors, drawings, and botanicals echo the healing realms she experiences in meditation. "Remaining in this meditative state, the energy of the present moment guides me. The brush glides, making true marks playful and abstract, scribing a universal language or elements of sacred geometry. Serene and vibrant color fills the space. Each stroke leads to the next, revealing stories of time and place for you to inhabit in peace." |

tribeca trunk, a fashion + accessories + art studio opens their doors @ 116 Old Lafayette Avenue, for the April Gallery Hop with new works on paper by renowned artist, Ellen Skidmore. Ellen is a painter whose work is known for a luminous palette and whimsical, mystical compositions. The tribeca trunk exhibit of works on paper is a fresh new direction for the artist. Using pen & ink markers, and then finishing with oil washes, Skidmore creates clean crisp figurative imagery. The colors & textures are measurably toned down, but the strength of this new work lays in the linear confidence, graceful designs and the gentle hues. Ellen says," These pieces are about loving relationships.... ... all kinds. They were a delight to do, and tribeca trunk is an exciting and unique new venue for this show." |
